Making of the Film

“I wanted to craft a film that honored classic noir while subverting it. One that respected its shadowy roots but added humor, energy, and genuine emotion. A love letter to cinema’s past, but with enough edge to feel alive today.”

— Ryan Curtis, Director

How It Was Made

Hollywood Grit was filmed with a commitment to authentic noir style and a sense of raw energy. We used real Hollywood locations, jazz clubs steeped with atmosphere, and practical lighting to capture the neon-lit, cigarette-smoke aesthetic of 1940s noir.

But it doesn’t stop there. The film balances moody monologues and shadowy backrooms with sharp dialogue and layered characters that bring its world vividly to life.

Think classical composition meeting raw, lived-in grit.

The Soundtrack

Music is central to Hollywood Grit’s mood.

Expect a blend of smoky jazz ballads and modern synth lines that bridge classic noir with pulsing 80s action.

With over ten original songs written and performed for the film—including live performances from cast members—the soundtrack isn’t just background noise. It’s an essential character.

Our Commitment to Veterans

Hollywood Grit is more than entertainment—it’s purpose-driven.

The production proudly employed numerous military veterans both in front of and behind the camera, representing multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. From Director Ryan Curtis to many of the members of the cast and crew, this is a film that truly comes from the veteran community.

As part of this commitment, a portion of the film’s proceeds will be donated to Veterans in Media & Entertainment (VME), supporting veterans building careers in film and television.
